(Water from heaven is free; it is the plumbing system that costs to pipe it into the house! If you find materials on this site that you can use you are welcome to them. If you desire to help with the cost of “piping in the water”, use the “donate” button.)
Throughout the Bible God uses common terms to communicate uncommon truths. In the Scriptures “cups” are mentioned more than thirty times. Several are related to our Savior; others deal with the blessing, fellowship and conduct of the saints; one relates exclusively to the sinner; others deal with the judgment of God and the severe penalty for those who prefer what the devil has to offer.
The Holy Spirit uses the word "cup" - He does not say "bucket." Not everyone can handle a bucket but everyone, even children, can handle a cup. A cup is a container. We drink from it. God has some things He wants to get inside of us - into our souls - therefore, He uses the analogy of the cup forHe has some truths that He wants us to swallow right down!
The study of some of the various times the Lord employs the word cup is very instructive.
The cups are six, they are: "The Savior's Cup"; "The Salvation Cup" "The Sinner's Cup"; "The Saints Cup"; "The Supper Cup" and "The Sheep's Cup."
May you be blessed as you study this aspect of the Scriptures.
